Bladder Cancer Symptoms - What to Look For & How it is Diagnosed
By Melissa McKyler
If you concerned that you may be suffering from bladder cancer symptoms this information may help you to decide if you need to see your doctor about your condition.
Known scientifically as malignant neoplasm, cancer can affect a number of areas in the body. It occurs when healthy cells multiply at an alarming rate, causing an abnormal growth that can and affect other living tissue causing them to stop operating.
The fifth most common area of the body to be diagnosed with this disease is the bladder. The most common bladder cancer symptoms that you need to watch out for are:
* Blood in the urine
* Pain in the area around the bladder
* The urge to urinate but not being able to
* A burning sensation when passing urine
* The inability to hold the normal amount of urine
Your doctor can also use a small lighted tube called a cystoscope, which is inserted into the bladder through the urethra, to check for abnormal growths or tissue.
Once diagnosed the doctor can use a CT scan to determine if the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
Treatment of bladder cancer symptoms varies depending on what stage it is, the age and the overall health of the patient. The most common are radiation, chemotherapy, biological therapy and surgery.
