Pancreatic Cancers

The Leading Causes of Pancreatic Cancer
By Joe Semonelli

Pancreatic CancersApproximately one in every 76 people will develop pancreatic cancer at some point in their lifetime. Genetic Risk factors; Between 5 and 10% of people diagnosed with this "silent killer" have been found to have had an immediate family member who has also suffered from the disease. Researchers have pinpointed several genes that may be associated with increased risk, but no particular "pancreatic cancer gene" has ever been identified.

Researchers have concluded that cigarette smoking increases the risk, and that the more an individual smokes, the higher the risk will be for them to develop the disease. Other studies have suggested that a fruit and vegetable rich diet decreases the risk, but nothing can be conclusively linked to an increased risk for the disease, since other studies revealed no link between it and general diet at all.

Trying to eliminate these risk factors from your lifestyle won't reduce your pancreatic cancer risk completely. However, eating a healthy diet, maintain a healthy weight and quitting smoking will surely increase your overall health and your risk for many common health problems.
