Gold Used For Anti-Cancer Treatments
By Alan LeStourgeon

Anti Cancer Treatments Gold is being used in many different applications within the medical world, but perhaps the most promising is the use of gold for anti cancer treatments. Radioactive gold was historically used for treating cancer many years ago, which is not a widely known fact. Many research groups are performing studies to test the use of gold in anti-cancer treatments because of its amazing qualities that make it such a unique metal. There are many current medical uses of gold in anti-cancer treatments, and many more that are being researched and developed on a daily basis.

The most common use of gold in relation to medicine is in prostate cancer. Gold is the preferred metal for this procedure and treatment because it is very dense and appears opaque on x-rays.

The use of platinum in the form of a drug called Cisplatin is widely documented in cancer treatment and research. There are studies going on in Singapore that have patented the use of gold complexes for drug treatments. The group involved in this research has discovered that gold complexes supported by phosphine tend to create great anti-tumor activity, which has clinical trials being speculated on in the near future.

Gold is biocompatible, which makes it ideal for the use of anti-cancer treatments. It is likely that within the next decade, there will be huge developments and advances in modern medicine and cancer treatment due to the use of gold.
